This week on Hold the Drama, host Alison Robertson, sits down with stylist, Art Conn. Art has styled on several hit shows including American Idol, Top Chef, Shark Tank and X Factor USA. He is currently styling Rebecca Romijn on the hit show Skin Wars as well as for her television, press and red carpet appearances. Hearing what Art had to say about styling people based on personality and how he can be creative in pulling in looks that will lend to a theme only made it more clear just how much goes in to creating anything that we see on our television or on the big screen. Art Conn is a freelance fashion stylist in Los Angeles, CA. He has styled seven seasons of the hit Fox TV series American Idol, and continues to work with many of its past contestants, including Adam Lambert, and winners Jordin Sparks and David Cook.
The Emmy-nominated shows Top Chef, Shark Tank and X Factor USA are just a few of Art’s TV styling credits. He has helped style world tours and videos for some of music’s top artists, including Madonna, Pink, Maroon 5, George Michael, and Lenny Kravitz.
While styling Tyra Banks for her talk show, Art also appeared as a guest, styling on camera makeovers. He has since appeared as a fashion and style expert on such programs as the Today show, MTV News, Good Day NY, the Ricki Lake Show, and Home & Family. He was seen onscreen alongside client Carnie Wilson on her hit GSN reality show Unstapled. He was also a weekly fashion critic for Life & Style Magazine and red carpet commentator for Celebuzz.com.
Art was the national spokesperson for TJ Maxx and Marshalls’ Back to School campaign, and fashion retailer Torrid honored him with their 2009 House of Dreams Dream Maker Award, recognizing his work in plus-sized fashion.
A career highlight was dressing actor Forest Whitaker for the 2007 Academy Awards, where he won Best Actor for his performance in The Last King of Scotland.
Art is currently styling actress and model Rebecca Romijn for her television, press, and red carpet appearances, and as the host of GSN’s hit show Skin Wars.
